Information for Travellers to Kenya
All visitors require a visa to enter Kenya. This can be obtained either at the Embassy, or at any airport in Kenya unless.
1. Documents required to obtain a visa at the Embassy in Bangkok:
a) A passport which allows the bearer to enter Kenya. The passport must be valid at least 6 months after return, and must contain at least two blank pages.
b) Two copies of the bio-data page of the passport
c) A visa application form, duly completed and signed by applicant.
d) Two recent passport-size photographs (to be stapled to the application form)
e) Visa fees, to be paid in cash (prepare exact amount)
- Single: 1,600 Baht
- Transit: 600 Baht
- Multiple entry (upon approval): 3,200 Baht
f) Proof of the intended visit, i.e a copy of the (electronic) ticket, a copy of invoice, an attestation from the travel agency, a letter from the employer or an invitation. For transit visas, applicants are required to provide evidence of the onward trip.(Kindly provide a photocopy, as the document will be archived.)
g) There are no compulsory vaccinations. However, Thai authorities require that anybody arriving from Kenya must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
NB: From 1st July 2011, the fee for Single Entry will change to 50 US Dollars while Multiple Visa will change to 100 US Dollars and Transit Visa to 20 US Dollars. Visitors who have already acquired visa at the previous fee will be required to pay the difference if they enter Kenya after 1st of July 2011.
2. Visa Application:
Visa application can be submitted from Monday to Thursday, from 1030 hrs to 1300 hrs and from 14.00 to 15.30 hrs. On Friday, Visa applications can be sumitted between 9.00 and 12.30 hrs
NB: Visas can only be collected in the afternoon from 2.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and from 10.00 am on Fridays.
3. Applicants travelling to Kenya for work:
Applicants travelling to Kenya for the purpose of working there (as employee or self employed) or studying there must have an immigration permit before applying for the visa. The permit is issued by the:

Categories of Visa
1. Ordinary/Singe Entry Visa
Required by all persons intending to enter Kenya for visits or residency. The current standard visa fee for an ordinary or a Single Journey entry visa is 1600 Thai baht.
2. Multiple Journey Visa
All persons who are nationals of countries which require visas for Kenya and who by nature of their business or circumstances require to make frequent visits to Kenya may be issued with Multiple Journey Visa for Kenya within six (6) or twelve (12) months as the case may be. Multiple Journey Visas are referred to the Principal Immigration Office for processing and approval, and are valid for six (6) and twelve (12) months as the case may be. The standard fee for a multiple visa is 3,200 thai baht.
3.Refferal Visa- This type of visa will be sent to Nairobi for approval. The cost is US $10 for sending plus the standard charges for the type of visa applied for.
4. Diplomatic Visa
Issued gratis to holder of a Diplomatic Passport on official business.
5. Official/Service Visa
Official, Service, Ordinary/Transit Visas are issued gratis to holders of Official or Service passport on official visits
6. Transit Visa
Required by all person intending to transit through Kenya for periods not exceeding 72 hours. The transit visa fee shall be 600 Thai Baht.
7. Courtesy Visas
Courtesy, Transit and Ordinary Visas may be issued gratis in accordance with the Provisions of categories 1, 2 and 3 of the Visa Regulations, where the applicant is not entitled to a Diplomatic Visa, but where it is considered by the issuing officer to be desirable on the grounds of international courtesy.
